Conserving Resources

In keeping with our purpose of “Changing the Beverage Business Worldwide,” we contribute to the development of a sustainable society by working actively to protect the Earth’s environment and safeguard the local environment in the communities we serve.

Realizing Paperless Workflows

We are working to realize paperless workflows, with a focus on general affairs and human resources operations. In general affairs, we are deploying and expanding use of Internet fax technology, which is helping not only to reduce use of paper, ink, and electricity, but also to streamline operations since personnel can send and receive faxes regardless of time or place via the Internet. We are also expanding adoption of computerized application processes internally as part of a larger effort to revamp our electronic decision-making system. In human resources, we’ve computerized all documents related to employee pay, including pay stubs and year-end tax adjustment forms, by deploying a human resources management system. Beyond those measures, we are also working to realize paperless workflows in other areas, for example by eliminating use of paper handouts in internal training, at major meetings, and in other settings.

Improving Fuel Efficiency by Introducing Top Runner Standard Vehicles

We have been actively introducing vehicles that meet the fuel efficiency standards set forth in the Act on Rationalizing Energy Use (so-called “top-runner standards”), and as of December 31, 2023, we owned 1,317 such vehicles. Going forward, we will reduce our greenhouse gas (CO2) emissions by working to improve fuel efficiency and reduce fuel use.

Reduction of CO2 Emissions through the Introduction of Electric Trucks

Since September 2023, we have started operating electric trucks at our Hokuriku branch. The introduction of electric trucks, which emit no CO2 or pollutants, aims to achieve zero-emission transportation and solve noise pollution, thereby embodying green logistics and contributing to the conservation of the global environment. Furthermore, the low vibration of electric trucks also promises to reduce the burden on drivers.

Improving Fuel Efficiency by Encouraging Environmentally Friendly Driving

By installing digital tachographs with drive recorders in our vehicles and analyzing drivers’ driving data, we are able to both ensure safe driving and offer guidance to help drivers drive in a more environmentally friendly manner. Going forward, we will reduce greenhouse gas (CO2) emissions while working to improve fuel efficiency and reduce fuel use by continuing to actively install digital tachographs in our vehicles and encouraging environmentally friendly driving.

Streamlining Deliveries by Expanding our Mixed-Cargo Business

We are working to expand our mixed-cargo business, which delivers multiple manufacturers’ products to retailers in the same vehicle, and as of December 31, 2023, we had expanded the service to 22 prefectures. Going forward, we will aim to reduce greenhouse gas (CO2) emissions by increasing delivery efficiency through mixed-cargo shipments of multiple manufacturers’ products.

Streamlining Deliveries with Dual-Temperature-Zone Vehicles

We are working to streamline deliveries by owning and operating dual-temperature-zone vehicles, which can accommodate products like room-temperature and chilled products that need to be managed and shipped at different temperatures by means of a partition. Going forward, we will aim to reduce greenhouse gas (CO2) emissions by utilizing dual-temperature-zone vehicles.
